return of music monday?

maybe, maybe not. lol. if you haven't figured it out yet, i'm horrible at sticking to something; however, i have been stuck on Adele's music since the first time i heard chasing pavements off of her 1st album, 19. and i actually got that song as a free download from starbucks about 2 years ago? Adele continues to amaze me with her songs. her latest album 21 is GREAT. i received it as a birthday gift (thanks julie!).
so if you're slightly interested, but don't know that you actually want to spend money to figure out whether or not you're an Adele fan, stop by starbucks this week and pick up a "pick of the week" card, for a free download.

happy listening.

music monday: summer's farewell

i know i've neglected my music monday posts for a while now.. not that i think anyone actually reads this thing; but if you do, i apologize for the lack of music posts.

since i've missed a slew of them, i decided that creating a playlist of the songs that were on rotation for me this summer might be a better idea. hope you enjoy.

regina spektor

i already liked regina spektor's music, but now i like her even more!
she has teamed up with itunes and doctors without borders; all sales of her cover of radiohead's 'no surprises,' will go toward the emergency relief fund of doctors without borders. see details from itunes below:

iTunes Notes:
For nearly a decade, singer/songwriter/classically trained pianist Regina Spektor has cultivated a devoted following through her grand lyrical scope and intimate playing style. The Radiohead songbook, in turn, has been explored from classical artist and NPR host Christopher O'Riley and jazz pianist and composer Brad Mehldau to new folk stylist Luka Bloom and Tony Award-winning singer/songwriter Duncan Sheik. Inspired by recent earthquake-fueled disasters in Haiti and Chile, Spektor recorded a breathtaking version of Radiohead's 'No Surprises,' employing a stark yet beautiful piano-and-string arrangement. Net proceeds from this recording's sale will go toward the Emergency Relief Fund of the International independent medical humanitarian Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontiéres.

music monday

so this past friday i took a mini-road trip down to atlantic city with some friends to catch a show.
it took us about 4:30 hours to make a trip that should really take 2; thanks to road work & "el traffico"... BUT
the show was soooo worth it!!

PARAMORE!!! i had the pleasure of seeing them live once before. it still amazes me, how much energy they have!! their shows are tons of fun. and little miss hayley williams blows me away every time. i just don't know how she can be bouncing around all over the stage, while singing her heart out and STILL manages to sound great. i <3 her.

here are some crappy phone photos from friday night's show:

and here are some promo photos from their website:

take a listen:

tonight my friends played an acoustic set at a local italian feast. it was a great time. i mean, who could ask for more... good food, a cold beer, great music & great friends. although, i could have done without the humidity. i was melting out there... there are very few people i would do that for. that's friendship. =]

farewell to the original guitar hero \,,/.

the legendary Les Paul died today. sad, yes, but he accomplished an awful lot in his 94 years on this earth.

without Les Paul, we would not have rock and roll as we know it. "His inventions created the infrastructure for the music and his playing style will ripple through generations. He was truly an architect of rock and roll."

not only was Les Paul a great musician, he also pioneered the solid-body electric guitar [the modern day electric guitar]. he also invented recording techniques that revolutionized the music industry.

guitarist Joe Satriani called Paul "the original guitar hero," and i couldn't agree more. "Les Paul set a standard for musicianship and innovation that remains unsurpassed."

RIP Les Paul
